Style of Yoga Taught?

Spirit Yoga classes are a playful fusion of Power Vinyasa Yoga (flowing), Core Strength Yoga (CSV) and Chinese Meridian Activation. The class is vigorous, dynamic, flowing and gives you the tools to focus, destress and transform.  Unfortunately, (due to low demand) there is no beginner class, but you may come and join in and I will advise you how to modify poses during the class.

I also now offer a Yin Yoga class that complements the stronger Yang style of the regular classes taught. Details on both styles are below.

Power Vinyasa Yoga is practiced by performing a series of yoga poses while synchronising the breath to movement (Vinyasa), resulting in a free-flowing dance like style. It is also a vigorous, dynamic and transforming practice, safely pushing the student to their edge while maintaining a strong sense of inner peace and increased concentration.

Yin Yoga is a slower paced style of yoga with more floor stretching poses held for longer periods of time (typically 2 - 5 minutes). Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues, the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. They are also designed to improve the flow of qi, (energy) to run through the meridians (channels) of the body, as used in Chinese Medicine.

Yin yoga is quite meditative in nature and aims at finding stillness, cultivating awareness of one's inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality. Although it may be slow and at times still it is quite a challenging class, as one tries to find stillness of body and mind without the need to constantly fidget in an uncomfortable asana. This style of yoga is not intended as a complete practice in itself, but rather as a complement to more active forms of yoga and exercise.
