Why Enthusiasm is Cuter than a Kitten

Think of a time that you were drawn in to someone else's enthusiasm. Like a moth to a light, you moved to the edge of your seat or you hung on their every word because their energy and passion was high and their enthusiasm contagious! Just like a kitten enticed by a ball of wool we are enraptured by others enthusiasm, it is definitely an attractive and sexy quality to possess.

Sometimes our enthusiasm wanes, our spark and vigour decreases as we get bogged down in life's day-to-day errands and demands. So, how can we get that inner light sparking again?

* Self Care - If you have been burning the candle at both ends or if you are a little run-down from a busier than normal schedule than you will need to invest in some self care; time just for you. This could be time to walk among nature, get a massage, get adequate sleep and if that is not possible try to squeeze in a 'Nana nap' or 10 min meditation.

* Change it or Accept it - Perhaps your schedule just doesn't allow you one minute to yourself. Sometimes we just have to plough on for a period of time until the load lessens. If you can't see an end to the heavy work load or stress, then life changes maybe in order. Tough questions need to be asked and honestly answered. 'Am I living the life I want to live? If money, failure and judgement weren't an issue what would I be doing with my life right now? What changes do I need to make to set me on the path of my dharma (life purpose)?

If you know your stresses are just temporary then 'acceptance' is key to keeping your inner light dimly glowing and not totally extinguishing. Acceptance and noticing our thoughts and any self limiting beliefs (that may be holding us back) during this temporary struggle can help us return to our natural childlike state of eagerness and devotion. Bringing our awareness to our thoughts and limiting beliefs can help them to dissolve while slowly awaken new empowering beliefs.

* Embrace your uniqueness - Take a moment to remember what it is that you are good at, passionate about, re-awaken your goals and dreams to help you lift your head again and glimmer the beauty that is all around you. There is only one YOU, and you are remarkable!

"Be yourself. Everyone else is taken." ~ Oscar Wilde

* Surround yourself with positive happy people - Enthusiasm is contagious so plan a get together with family or friends to listen, laugh and feed your inner light.

* visualise - sit or lay down somewhere quiet, start to deepen your breath to a slow, calm and even breath. Think of a time where you had lots of enthusiasm, imagine where you were, what were wearing, were you alone of with others? Remember how you felt, physically, mentally and emotionally, really feel the emotion that you felt at that moment and let that feeling embody you. Keep that feeling in your heart and think about a situation that you would like to have more passion for, imagine feeling a warmth and eagerness towards this situation. Notice how your outlook can change just by changing your thoughts and feelings towards it!

"Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes shine to the stars. Enthusiasm is the sparkle in your eyes, the swing in your gait. The grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of will and energy to execute your ideas." ~ Henry Ford.

It is difficult to make your hopes shine to the stars, your eyes sparkle and have energy to execute your ideas if you aren't looking after yourself. To provide energy you need to have energy, through adequate sleep, healthy nutritious foods, healthy positive thoughts and beliefs and most importantly time to laugh with family and/or friends.

I picked this theme this week to act as bellows and furnish a strong blast of air to my waning ember of enthusiasm due to another house move in just five months and a heavy work schedule. Packing boxes, cleaning and moving again so soon can now signal an exciting new adventure ahead! I hope this helps ignite your embers and if you have any tips to add to this I would love to hear them. ~ Martine
